How to use Phone cards and calling cards

Phone cards do vary by supplier. The following guidelines will explain approximately how they are used.

  1. Using a touch tone phone, dial the access number
  2. At the prompt, enter your PIN number (sent to you via email ).
  3. Your balance for this card is normally announced at this point.
  4. You are next asked to dial your destination phone number. This will be the full international dialing code.
  5. With most cards you are then informed of how many remaining minutes you have for making a continuous call to this number.

The next time you use the phone cards, repeat step 1.

With each call, the balance of your phone card / calling card will be reduced until the value on the card is reached or expires (which ever comes first). You then simply purchase another card.

Which Access Number should I use?

Your pin number will arrive by email with two access numbers, a local rate (01) number and a 1800 Freephone number. We have outlined below the best usage for each access number.

From a Landline

If dialling from your home or work landline we recommend you use the 1800 access number. This will mean the entire cost of the phone call will come off the phone card. No fee will be charged to your home or work phone bill. Using the (01) number may incur a charge from your landline provider. The (01) number is useful if you have a special tariff with your landline provider so that you can make free local calls.

From a Mobile

When dialling from a mobile phone, none of the access numbers are free. You should check with your mobile provider to find out which is best for you. Most customers who dial from their mobile use the (01) access number.

From a payphone

If you dial from a payphone you are charged a surcharge. The best access number to use would be the 1800 access.
